Single Place WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY

If it becomes necessary this winter to close First Presbyterian Church, thus canceling Single Place, we will do our best to announce the cancellation on local radio stations. However, there is no guarantee our closing will be announced. Therefore, it is recommended that you call First Presbyterian Church, 248-349-0911, before leaving home or work. Decisions should be made by 4pm in the afternoon.

Mail form and your payment ($1.00 for each month until next January) to the church “attn: Single Place Newsletter” or hand deliver to Single Place on Thursday nights. WORSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Worship services at First Presbyterian Church of Northville

begin at 10am every Sunday morning. All are welcome to attend.

 

Thurs., May 2

7pm Single Place We welcome Ms. Sandy Baumann, who will bring us many easy ways to Recharge Your Brain & Memory. She suggests the use of certain foods, vitamins, minerals, activities, as well as lifestyle tips. Sandy is a professional speaker who has authored several publications on health topics and has a Masters Degree in biochemistry. $5 donation please.

 

Sat., May 4

1:30pm Downtown Detroit in Daylight Meet at the Garden Center entrance of Meijer’s @ 8 Mile & Haggerty to car pool for an afternoon of exploring the Heidelberg Project and Eastern Market followed by dinner in Greektown. (Home before dark.)

 

Wed., May 8

6:30pm Dining Out Meet at TGI Friday’s on Haggerty Rd., South of 8 Mile, near Target. Reservations are required so call Grace to get on the list - 734-464-4029. Also call if you need to cancel.

 

Thurs., May 9

7pm Single Place Tonight, our speaker is Mr. David Trotter, of Undersea Research Assoc. He will narrate an interesting video program as well as relaying some of his experiences of a lifetime of deep water diving, searching for and finding long lost sunken ships in the Great Lakes and other waters. His work has been featured in many TV programs, books and national publications. We invite you to bring your family and friends to this meeting, as it is open to the general public. All we ask is a $5 donation. Snacks, ice cream and soft drinks will be provided.

 

Sat., May 11

5pm Dinner & Darts at Bailey’s Pub N’Grille, 1777 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton, SW corner @ Ford Rd. in the Kroger Shopping Center. Do not be intimidated - none of us are pros at darts. We just have fun. Sign up at Single Place or call Nancy if you can join us, 734-459-7235.

 

Wed., May 15

7pm Single Place Council First Presbyterian Church, Lower Level. MEMBERS: Please come prepared with your ideas for speakers and weekend activities, (who, what, when, where and how much $). We need fresh ideas from each of you to have a successful organization.

Thurs., May 16

7pm Single Place Tonight Mr. Jay Young is presenting an interesting and informative narrated slide program on his trip to the United Republic of Tanzania in East Africa. Tanzania is home to Mt. Kilimanjaro, the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar on the Indian Ocean and the Serengeti National Park. Ice Cream follows. $5 donation, please.

 

Sat., May 18 **Event Cancelled**

11am Ferndale’s Rust Belt Arts, Crafts & More Show. Meet at the Garden Center entrance of Meijer’s, 8 Mile & Haggerty, to car pool to Ferndale. We will have dinner at one of the areas many restaurants. Please remember to sign up at Single Place.

 

Thurs., May 23

7pm Single Place Welcome to the first indoor-outdoor cookout of the season. Cooking out, but eating in. Hamburgers, hot dogs and baked beans are on the menu. The Southwest is this month’s theme, so wear your Western or cowboy clothes. You may also choose to contribute a dish to pass, salads or desserts. Soft drinks and ice cream will be provided. Following dinner, we can watch old classic TV comedy shows on the overhead flat screen. $7 donation please. Come help us initiate the new charcoal grill Single Place recently purchased.

NO SINGLE PLACE plans on this night.

 

Mon., May 27

4pm Memorial Day It’s a Pot-Luck House Party at Bruce’s home in Canton. Hamburgers and Italian Sausages on the grill will be furnished, in addition to whatever foods you bring to pass, plus $5. Please sign up at Single Place or call Nancy if you can attend, 734-459-7235. Limited parking, so try to car pool. Maps are available at Single Place.

 

Thurs., May 30

7pm Single Place Another fun evening of Cards and Games. Join your friends for a friendly game of Euchre, Mexican Train (a Dominoes game) or any of the other games we offer. Feel free to bring a snack to share. Soft drinks will be provided, as well as good Guernsey Ice Cream. $5 donation please.
